Stornoway Town Hall

Have you visited our new service access point which is now available at Stornoway Town Hall?

Trained staff can help you with enquiries regarding council tax, benefits and wide range of other public services.  You can pay your comhairle accounts for childcare, council tax, housing rent, Faire, home care, business rates and licensing matters.

Other services provided include validation of National Entitlement Card applications and facilitating interviews for new passport applications (now a legal requirement). Further service information is available by contacting us.

We plan to open similar facilities in Harris, Barra, Benbecula and Uig during 2009/10.

Customer Service Strategy

The opening (February 2009) of our Stornoway service access point was the first public demonstration of the comhairle’s delivery of its Customer Service Strategy (PDF, 450K) which was adopted in September 2008.

The strategy is being delivered as part of the Scottish Government’s ‘Customer First’ initiative which was developed in partnership with all 32 Scottish local authorities with the intention of delivering ‘first time right’ public services by redesigning internal processes to meet customer need.

We have recently published our Customer Care Standards.  These standards are a demonstrable commitment by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar regarding what you, as a customer, should expect from us.
